What's your favourite type of pub?
A big busy Wetherspoons or other cheap gaf?

A small backstreet local with darts and a pool table?

A flashy modern wine bar?

A country pub with a roaring fire?

Discuss.

A country pub.

Also pubs without people sat on their mobiles.

I have a distaste for pubs with Kareoke and fat women.

I was in that pub last week for my father-in -law's wake.

Amazing decor and lovely food - no West Ham banners though!!

They could do with some more of your jerk gravy on the EU thread Gavvers.

Apparently they don't have anyone to talk to over there.

Re: What's your favourite type of pub?
Depends on day/mood, really...

I like live rock/indie music on a Friday night...

Bands covering classics from LZ, Thin Lizzy, Status Quo to more modern shit like Stereophonics, Oasis, Radiohead etc. etc. etc.

If it's a Sunday then you can't beat a country pub...

Ye Olde Mitre in Hatton Garden is a great little pub, plenty of history, and featured in a few films too.

Old ones and ones with history

The Lamb and Flag here because of the Tolkien/C.S. Lewis connection

And the Perch which is one of nearest to me though the direct path is through Port Meadow. Over 800 years as a business while the building is 17th century.

Any pub. I live the U.S. and they just can't seem to get it right no matter how hard they try.

Re: What's your favourite type of pub?
Live music. Start at about 11pm, once all the day dogs start going home, night cats come out to play, and the mice stay away. Free beers for the players.

Other than that, traditional....lots of oak.....no music......quality beers, including local/house brew......dart board but no pool table.....preferably with a mobile/smart phone blocking technology....should be called the something and something, but not essential.

For those wanting a country pub, fire, dogs allowed, brilliant food, West Ham and you are Canterbury/Folkstone way, then I would suggest this one

Run by a mate of mine and proper West Ham nut

In Maldon we have recently had two micro pubs open up, one is owned by Farmers Ales and the other is Mighty Oak brewery. I like both but the mighty Oak (Tap Room) sells cheese boards too which sways me towards that one.
